Old Habits Are Hard to Break

It seems that old habits are seemingly hard to break for one city official anyway. A few years ago a channel 11 investigation showed stubby telling everyone that he didn't know anything about the fire chief drinking on duty. Well, you know now stub. We just want to know... is the fire chief on the clock or does he punch-out for his liquid lunch at Harveys?

Good thing he didn't park the city vehicle in front of Harveys, that would be too obvious!

Yes old habits are hard to break , Just look at the chief, assistant chief and the new sgt it will always be
just what it is. Will the new hires move in? Will a certain D.E.A sgt who lives in Munhall move back to Duquesne? I think not. There are still good Officers in duquesne but they still continue to be shit on! As for the Fire Chief seeing is believing isnt it!

Why should they move in? Even though an idiot can read an ordinance and understand it, the way Duquesne handles its own business really doesn't inspire people, even good ones, to follow the rules. Good leadership breeds good followers......and there is your problem.

While I hate to even enter this forum, I feel it necessary to lend my own two cents.

Beyond the fact that many on this page/blog may have accurate information, there is a obvious lack of action. While I agree that many of the officials that we discuss have some serious lack of integrity, there is little that can be done from WITHIN. Change must occur from outside....IE: the citizens making the officials accountable and demanding change.

You are correct. The is a lot wrong with this City. The new hires shouldnt move in for their own safety and the safety of their family. I dont blame them if they dont! Any residency mandate has long been considered antiquated and outdated. Who will make them change? I have knowledge that two of the three new hires (if not all three) are not going to move in. Sure...they are aware of the mandate when they took the job, but honestly....could they have known how bad it truly is and the true safety issues that will become part of their daily lives. Dont move here men..... PLUS....you have past practice on your side......

The police department has poor leadership. Period. The Chief needs to retire if he cares so much about the community. The Asst Chief - well - we shall see. The Dept would greatly benefit from new leadership. Council - pretty much the same. Go away old men.

When the "fathers" figure out that it is 2008 and not 1955 - then and only then will the City of Duquesne become habitable once again.

First, let me say that addiction is a terrible thing and I wish him the best and hope he finds sobriety. However, this behavior has been going on for over a decade if not decades. The first time it took a tipster to tell the media and it stopped for a little while (George was not happy), ist did not take long before the man was back in the saddle.

Q: How can everyone in town know this is going on and never complain about it?
A: Answer, nobody in town gives a *&!#.

Therefore, leave the man alone and if this is what he chooses to do on duty, and the Mayor is okay with it, then just drop it. I cannot believe in this entire town not one person who pays taxes (very few left) would walk into a public meeting and demand action be taken. Demand accountability from the elected and appointed city officials! Yes, I know, nobody cares... So, getting back to what I said before, just leave it alone. Dedicate your time toward charity. Your efforts will be more appreciated and your satisfaction will be greater!

Well as far as dedicating time to charity, hell they do that everyday, they babysit the kids that the parents gave up on or are to high to watch. The town in it's entirty needs overhauled. The management needs to go. Yes there are several great cops that are stuck now due to the residency and the others are getting f@#%#@ due to the top brass thinking they can scare them into moving in. Past practice boys, can't enforce whenever the hell you feel like it.
Well we all know a certain city manager who likes to drink and drive. Watch you back cause one day will come when you are pulled over and the charges will stick, no one needs to cover this up and then the media will get a kick out of that.

For all of you who think that you know everything you should probably back off of the great firefighters and officers of the City of Duquesne Fire Department who even at 2 and 3 am despite having to work at 7 am the next day still crawl out of bed to answer even the most bullshit of calls to the fires to the accidents. When you all finally respect the job, the sacrifice that comes with it and the honor and loyalty and dedication that it takes to do the job then you can start talking down on those... You wanna make a difference, why don't you try taking some time out of your busy bullshit existences and instead of sitting on here bitching about it, get out there and make a difference, join the fire department, run for office. Quit bitching about the problems and become part of the solution.
