The Taxpayer Pays Again

There are now two full-time officers on "light duty" in the Duquesne Police Department. One of them is due to a "temporary" ailment but the other, we're told, is permanently disabled from performing police duties. So, we ask why is he on the desk? Can't Duquesne better utilize that twenty+ dollars per hour for another officer on the street? Isn't that what a pension is for?

More taxpayer $$$ goes up in smoke!

And since when is laziness and malaise a disability, anyway?

He is on the desk because there are no stop lights there, and lights and siren are never needed....

Malaise: noun. An uncomfortable feeling that something is wrong, especially with society, and a lack of ability to change the situation. (Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary)

Seems to describe this frustrated citizen of Duquesne. Seems to describe most of this town's officials too (elected and appointed), except in their case you can change "lack of ability" to "steadfast refusal".

Not quite so sure how it refers to the Duquesne PD's Desk Sergeant, but it most certainly can't refer to our Glorious Chief of Police, as he see nothing wrong with this town's situation.

Whats wrong with everyone here. I m quessing that your not a police officer because many a time a police officer while going after a possible traffic violation or going after a suspect doesnot use lights or sirens sometimes even going thru red lights in your heart of hearts if you look deep inside you will see that there are so many wrongs in Duquesne just one of them keeping a disabled sgt on the desk just because they think they are hurting him. Do you think they care about any officers currently working? Hell no. Do anyone of you reading this think they even care . When they care will be when they go to jail period!
I am really sorry for every police officer in duquesne.

Well, in fact I have nearly a decade witha major metrpolitan police department, and have been on many choice units. I do highly respect the job, and anyone willing to continue doing it in the face of such controvertial events. Do not confuse clearsightedness with lack of experience, for you never really know who you are talking to.....
