its only fair....corruption hurts everyone, while name calling is for children who don't have the means or vocabulary to make a real point.
WHAT HAS RUFFLED SOME FEATHERS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND WILL RUFFLE SOME UPSTAIRS WHEN THE LAWSUIT IS SERVED SHORTLY IS THAT PROMOTIONS AND DEMOTIONS IN DUQUESNE ARE BASED UPON NOTHING MORE THAN LOYALTY AND WHO WILL FOLLOW THE MARCHING ORDERS WITH A BLIND EYE..AND EAR.. NO TESTS, NO CIVIL SERVICE RULES, NO CRITERIA, ONLY LOYOLTY IS REQUIRED.

Your description of how these promotions, demotions, etc. are done within the police department is correct. I could not have described it any better. Any system that does not have a shred of ligitimacy to it cannot be respected or even more important, be effective. Does tenure,education (college), or training matter? Nope, its just if Lefty thinks you will not rock the boat. Textbook example of Management 101!?!?!?!
I agree the city is going to go under real soon. Look at all they have screwed. Why does it have to come down to lawsuits. Get rid of the upper hands in the city and that is the first step.
Have I heard correctly that there is a minimum requirement of five years odf service in order to be eligible for promotion to sergeant? For that matter, you guys make it sound like I shoul ask if there are ANY requirements...

I do not believe there is any number of years or an exam or process of any kind to get promoted in that place. Double check what your little bird told you about the five years. If so, then they violated that too! Anyway, what the hell, its good to be the king!

I think the only way you get promoted is to kiss the brasses ass. That has proven so in this last promotion.
In the teamsters contract and the arbitration ruling the officer must be at full rate how ever long it takes to
get to full rate check the contract those who have one
I can't believe I am suggesting this (since we all saw how tough it was for the City of Pgh Police), but why isn't there a call for civillian review of the department? Those who are doing their jobs should have nothing to fear, while those who are getting by or getting special treatment will fight this tooth and nail. It suck if it comes to that, but we may be there....
Well i could agree with that except there isnt an honest citizen left in duquesne and i even question some of those officers living here! Maybe Mt. Lebanon residents could come in and review mmmmmm!
I agree, there needs to be a review but from an outside source. As far as reading the contract thru the teamsters that is great but look at all the other laws they have broken. Civilian and Veteran. They don't care and this needs to come to light. Maybe everyone should take a look at the laws and see who is getting screwed. Maybe it is those who don't even know they had a right.
